‘Religious’ Entertainment

by Abu Abdullah Ibne Ismail

May Allah ta’ala help us all to rectify our intentions and benefit the way we should:

“Unfortunately, one of our problems today, is that we have made religious gatherings a source of entertainment. When we attend our intention is not to listen to what is being said in order to rectify ourselves. We attend lectures in order to enjoy the oratory and emotive appeal of the lecturer.

This is why we see very large audiences in those gatherings which promote such attractions. And this is why we see very small numbers of people attending those gatherings which albeit being full of benefit do not rely on such measures.”
